Nils Hanson was between 2003-2018 the editor-in-chief of Mission Investigate at the public service TV company Swedish Television (SVT). The investigative TV show is aired prime time one hour a week, 39 times a year. The program, produced by 35 people in the newsroom, makes stories with a great impact not only on the Swedish society. During the last two years of his leadership, the program won ten international awards, among them the German Prix Europe award for the best current affairs program in Europe, The British Journalism Award, the Italian Dig Award, and the American Tom Renner Award. Recently the program was announced the winner of the prestigious American IRE award for a story, “Deceptive Diplomacy — Cover-up by the UN”, edited by Nils.
Nils regularly teaches investigative methods at conferences and workshops all over the world and has written a book on the subject. He has himself received six investigative awards.
Nils was newly appointed as the investigative editor of the news department at Swedish Television and also continues to work as an editor for Mission Investigate.
