Erdal Güven is a journalist for almost 30 years. He started his career as a foreign news reporter at Cumhuriyet in 1991. In 1994 he moved to Yeni Yüzyıl as a foreign news editor and in 1996 to Radikal as head of the foreign news desk. In 1998 he was appointed deputy managing editor and in 2001 he became the managing editor. He quit Radikal in 2011 due to a change in the editorial line of the paper. While working for Radikal, he also wrote regular columns, focusing mainly on Turkey’s foreign policy and world events.

From 2011 to 2014 he worked as a freelancer writing for various magazines and newspapers such as Tempo, Hürriyet Sunday and Taraf. During the same period he lectured journalism at East Mediterranean University in Cyprus and worked as a media trainer. Since early 2014 he is the editor in chief of, an independent news portal.
He has written two books on Cyprus.
