Members regularly ask us what steps the Guardian is taking to combat the issue of fake news. So we thought you might be interested in hearing about a report we’ve recently submitted to a British parliamentary commission on the subject.
Last week the committee published papers from the Guardian and other interested organisations, which you can read in full here. As our evidence runs to many thousands of words, we also asked Kate Saunders, who works in the Guardian’s public policy team, to take us through the main points. In her article, she explains why fake news is not just about the fabrication of untrue stories, but also an online ecosystem that rewards them.
Until next week,
